NZC Emerging Players drew with England Lions
England Lions have drawn their opening warm-up match of the tour to New Zealand. Worcestershire opener Stephen Moore top-scored for the Lions with a quickfire 75 as the tourists reached 277 all out from their first innings against the NZC Emerging Players XI. The hosts had posted 321-7 on the first day, however England's second string found conditions trickier at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval, Lincoln. Skipper Rob Key hit a run-a-ball 31 alongside Moore, who smashed 12 fours and a six, but Jonathan Trott, Samit Patel, Steven Davies and Luke Wright all failed with the bat. And it took a lower order recovery to spare England's blushes with Ben Scott unbeaten on 53, while Gareth Batty chipped in with 35 and Sajid Mahmood 29. Te Ahu Davis did the damage with the ball, taking 3-61, while Nick Beard, Brandon Hiini and Mitchell McClenaghan all weighed in with two wickets apiece.
