Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar will miss Wednesday's opening match of the one-day series against West Indies in Abu Dhabi due to a calf injury.
The 33-year-old had been set for his first one-day international appearance in more than a year following injuries and discipline problems.
"He pulled his left calf muscle during yesterday's training session and will be rested for today's match," Paksitan Cricket Board media manager Raza Rashid told The Associated Press.
The injury is "not serious" and Shoaib is in contention for the second game of the three-match series on Friday.
"The team management will review his fitness Thursday before the second match on Friday," Rashid added.
