Seamer released from Northants contract after two years

Northamptonshire have released seamer Richard Logan from his contract at Wantage Road - a move which has thrown his career into doubt. Logan was in his second spell with Northants but his two-year spell had not gone as he would have liked. The 28-year-old has struggled to nail down a regular place in the team and Northants officials have decided he is surplus to requirements. Logan expressed his disappointment at the move and now fears that his cricket career could be over. "After 12 years in the professional game I am disappointed that things have not worked out as well as I would have liked," said Logan. "However, I'm excited about new challenges that lie ahead in my life either inside or outside of the game."

Decision

Northamptonshire head coach David Capel added that 20-year-old paceman Richard Browning, who was on a summer deal, has also been released from his contract. Capel said that it was a difficult decision to let Logan go but the move was made with the future in mind. "It was a difficult decision to release Richard from his contract and we have done it with the future in mind," said Capel. "It is disappointing from the player's point of view that it has not worked out but I sincerely wish him all the best for his future."
