Paceman ruled out of Asia Cup climax

Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup. Gul left the field with a rib muscle injury after delivering just eight balls during Thursday's defeat against India. The 24-year old is sidelined for at least 10 days with Abdul Rauf set to replace him at the six-team one-day tournament, although that remains subject to the final approval of the Pakistan Cricket Board. "Gul has been advised to rest for 10 days to two weeks so he won't be playing the remaining part of the tournament," chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed told Reuters. "Gul complained of pain in his rib muscles and scans showed there is a problem for which he needs a rest." The Asia Cup enters the 'super four' stage on Saturday when Bangladesh take on India in Karachi. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other two teams remaining in the competition and they meet at the same venue the following day. The final is scheduled for July 6.
