Lancashire's preparations for the new season have been hit with the news that bowler Kyle Hogg will be out for five weeks with a broken finger.
The 23-year-old broke the fifth finger on his right hand during fielding practice on Tuesday, an injury which will see him miss the start of the County Championship season.
Hogg will not need surgery on the injury but he will need five weeks to recover, ruling him out of the opening two County Championship matches of the campaign against Surrey and Somerset.
Hogg had been in decent form during pre-season, including figures of 4-29 against Essex in a 50-over friendly recently.
Lancashire had hoped to make a quick start to the campaign after missing out on the County Championship title on a thrilling final day last season.
