New Zealand have received another blow to their chances of winning the Test series against England after Jacob Oram was ruled out with a hip injury.
The experienced all-rounder has been one of the Black Caps' better bowlers in the first two Tests but was being considered as a specialist batsman despite picking up the injury in Wellington.
However, the Kiwis have opted to hand a debut to South African-born all-rounder Grant Elliott while 19-year-old swing bowler Tim Southee has also been named in the starting line-up.
Off-spinner Jeetan Patel has been recalled in place of seamer Mark Gillespie as the hosts go into the match with an inexperienced attack following the withdrawal of Kyle Mills due to a knee injury.
