Pakistan board to adjudicate on participation of their internationals

English county teams are awaiting a decision on whether Pakistan internationals will be eligible for the new season. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to officiate on the matter in a meeting scheduled for March 8, when stricter guidelines for internationals are expected to be agreed. All-rounder Shahid Afridi has been prevented from signing for Glamorgan's Twenty20 fixtures in 2008 ahead of the new report. The PCB's director of cricket operations Zakir Khan is collecting his findings before presenting the evidence to Shafqat Naghmi and the rest of the board.

Naghmi told The News: "Zakir is working on the report and we are looking forward to settling this issue at the next executive board meeting. "It is the executive board that would decide whether we could be lenient in awarding permission for county stint." Paceman Rao Iftikhar Anjum has also been denied permission to sign with Glamorgan and fellow bowlers Mohammad Asif and Umar Gul have also been told to wait. Essex could be hit hardest by the decision though, if leg-spinner Danish Kaneria is prevented from signing for the upcoming county season.
