All-rounder Daryl Mitchell has confirmed his commitment to Worcestershire by agreeing a 12-month extension to his current deal at New Road.
The 23-year-old was one of the few Royals players to emerge from their relegation from Division One of the LV County Championship with any credit.
Mitchell averaged 43 with the bat, including a top score of 112, and picked up six wickets.
Mitchell will now remain a Worcestershire player until the end of the 2009 season.
And he said: "I am a Worcestershire lad and I want to play for the club for many years to come.
"I feel the way I performed in the last few games that I have established myself at the top of the order."
