Uncapped Sri Lankan off-spinner Dilruwan Perera is set to star on the World stage as a replacement for his idol Muttiah Muralitharan.
The International Cricket Council's technical committee has given Sri Lanka permission to call Perera into their World Twenty20 squad after Murali was forced to withdraw.
In a massive blow to Sri Lanka, the diminutive star sustained a bicep injury playing for Lancashire against Kent in the English County Championship on 28th August.
The committee approved Perera's inclusion as a replacement after receiving medical reports confirming Murali's injury.
Perera, 25, who counts Murali as one of his idols, plays for Panadura Sports Club in Sri Lanka.
He has made rapid progress in his career and was selected for Sri Lanka A's tour of England this year.
The World Twenty20 begins in South Africa on 11th September and runs for two weeks.
Sri Lanka start their campaign on 14th September when they face Kenya in Johannesburg.
