•

    Over 26 Kohli 4-0-0-2-4-1

151-5 - Virat Kohli on now, but he starts very wide and Russell slashes it over point for four. Dropped! Patel again. Russell again. Bit this time it's a slightly thicker edge and slightly more excusable. The better keepers take those though, and Russell punishes the mistake. The final delivery is murdered along the ground through wide long-off - although it was only 15 yards to long-off's left side, he couldn't get there.

  •

    Over 25 Rahul 0-0-0-0-1lb-1

140-5 - Very clever bowling from Sharma, who looks the only bowler able to shackle Pollard. He very nearly has him lbw here, as Pollard comes forward to try and paddle away on the leg side. The ball hits him on the front pad in front of off stump, but he'd got a big stride in so there was plenty of doubt as to where that might have spun.

  •

    Over 24 Tiwary 6-2-1-0-6-0

138-5 - Centurion Manoj Tiwary comes on to bowl, but sees his first delivery hit into the second tier at long-on by Pollard. Another clean hit, and then he clips through midwicket for a couple. Tiwary makes the mistake of gifting Russell a full toss later in the over, and that disappears into the crowd as well. And then Russell has a let-off as he nicks one but it's dropped by Patel. It was a thin underedge, but very catchable. How costly will that be?

  •

    Over 23 Rahul 1-0-0-2-0-0

123-5 - Sharma sneaks in a rare cheap over for India to calm the nerves a little bit. Russell takes the patient approach.

  •

    Over 22 Jadeja 0-0-6-0-1lb-2

120-5 - India might start to get a little worried now, as Pollard goes to fifty with another easy strike back over the bowler's head for six. He's striking the ball so cleanly, and seems to be picking the right deliveries as well. That half-century has taken him just 43 deliveries.

  •

    Over 21 Rahul 1-0-0-6-0-0

111-5 - Russell gets in on the act now, swinging one over long-on and into the stands. It's a big hit, sailing 30 rows back or so, but Sharma knows that was in the slot. Powerplay over now.

  •

    Over 20 Jadeja 0-1-0-0-4-0

104-5 - Russell is leaping on anything short, rocking back quickly to slap it away for four. That's what happens to Jadeja's penultimate delivery - can't do that when the field is up for the powerplay.

  •

    Over 19 Rahul 0-2-0-0-1-4

99-5 - Pollard is a bit more circumspect against Sharma, who dismissed him in the last match. The legspinner's quicker ball makes him a dangerous prospect, but his otherwise excellent start is ruined a bit when he serves up a long-hop to Russell, who cracks it through cover for four. Nothing wrong with West Indies' run-rate.

  •

    Over 18 Jadeja 0-0-4-1-6-1

92-5 - Gambhir's attacking captaincy backfires when Jadeja bowls a fraction short and is cut away square for four by Andre Russell. The skipper had just taken a fielder out of the off side and put him at second slip. Fielders aren't really such an issue with Pollard of course, because most shots clear the rope - he slots Jadeja back over his head for a maximum with minimal effort.

  •

    Over 17 Rahul 1-0-1-0-0-0

80-5 - West Indies effectively got a free powerplay over there because India had six men in the ring during the last over but failed to tell the umpire they were taking the powerplay. Now Rohit Sharma spots the error and informs Gambhir, who tells the umpire they'd like to take it. Rahul Sharma replaces Raina, and bowls a tidy over.

  •

    Over 16 Jadeja 0-6-1-0-W-0

78-5 - Huge six! Pollard actually puts some effort into the shot this time, and the ball sails over long-on and out of the ground! He flicks the next ball to leg for a simple single. WICKET! At this rate, even if Pollard hits a six every over, he's likely to run out of partners. Especially if India beat the bat and hit the pad from the end Sudhir Asnani is umpiring. This ball is fired in from around the wicket by Jadeja, so it's angling down the leg side and hits Ramdin in front of middle and leg stump. Was definitely missing leg.

  •

    Over 15 Raina 0-1-0-0-4-1

71-4 - Pollard's getting his eye in now, and he nearly clears the ropes at midwicket with a casual flick off the pads. Insanely powerful - that landed inches short of the boundary. He's the one man who could change this match, of course.

  •

    Over 14 Jadeja 2-1-0-6-0-0

65-4 - Spin from both ends now as Jadeja replaces Mithun. His fourth delivery is fairly full, and Pollard just eases forward to nudge it over long-off for six. The man hovered on the boundary rope, then watched the ball sail over him.

  •

    Over 13 Raina 1-1-1-0-0-0

56-4 - Suresh Raina is the first spinner into the attack for India, who also have Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul Sharma. Pollard very nearly chops the final delivery onto his stumps, and has to kick the ball away as it bounces up and threatens to come down on the wicket.

  •

    Over 12 Mithun 4-1-2wd-0-2-0-4

53-4 - This looks to have been one over too many for Mithun, and it goes for 13. The first ball is on the pads and Pollard flicks it away for four, and the final delivery is outside off and the big man opens the face to run it through vacant slip.

  •

    Over 11 Irfan 1-0-1-1-1-0

40-4 - Gambhir keeps the fast men on even as the first powerplay comes to an end, but he does spread the field a bit and West Indies manage four singles. That was probably their biggest problem in the opening 10 overs - not rotating the strike.

  •

    Over 10 Mithun 0-0-0-W-0-0

36-4 - WICKET! This looked like it was just a matter of time. Mohammed had already been hit on the pad twice in the over as he swiped across the line, and this time the umpire raises the finger. Probably a reasonable decision - looked to be hitting leg stump - and so the nervous debutant has to depart. Kieron Pollard replaces him.

  •

    Over 9 Irfan 0-0-1-0-0-1

36-3 - Mohammed finally gets his second run, from his 17th delivery. Bit of a stand-off at present, with India's bowlers dropping a touch shorter - and more defensive - and West Indies happy to play the patience game for the moment as they try and rebuild.

  •

    Over 8 Mithun 1-0-0-0-0-0

34-3 - Ramdin rides the first ball down to fine leg for a single, and Mohammed plays out the remainder of the over. He drives the final delivery nice and straight but Mithun gets a boot down to prevent any runs.

  •

    Over 7 Irfan 0-0-0-0-0-0

33-3 - Jason Mohammed, on debut, is one of the men tasked with guiding West Indies out of the mire. He sees off a maiden from Irfan, leaving anything wide of off stump. The one ball that he does drive can't beat the field.

  •

    Over 6 Mithun W-0-4-0-0-0

33-3 - WICKET! That's a shocker from Sudhir Asnani. It was a great delivery from Mithun, beating Samuels' edge, but there's no way he nicked that. Mithun put his hands up in frustration that he hadn't found the edge, then turned around to find the umpire's finger was up. Parthiv Patel had appealed half-heartedly, nothing more. Not surprisingly it takes an age for Samuels to trudge off the pitch, casting long glares back over his shoulder as he departs. Denesh Ramdin cuts his second ball away to the wide third man boundary, but West Indies are in trouble.

  •

    Over 5 Irfan W-0-0-1-4-1

29-2 - WICKET! Just as I was saying Powell looked in good touch, he plays on. Decent delivery from Pathan from over the wicket - it was well back of a length and moved in a touch off the seam, leaving Powell to get an inside edge onto his stumps as a lack of footwork was exposed. Pathan has a huge grin on his face for the next three balls, until Samuels guides one delicately through the gap between second slip and keeper for four. There was a gap, and it was intentional and safe.

  •

    Over 4 Mithun 0-0-0-4-0-1

23-1 - Powell's in fantastic nick here, and he grabs another boundary as the ball swings in and lands on a length. The left-hander strokes it effortlessly back down the ground for four.

  •

    Over 3 Irfan 0-4-wd-0-1-0-0

18-1 - Powell is quickly onto the short ball once more, this time cutting away in front of square and finding the gap to earn four. Another wide down leg side brings the overall tally to seven in three overs, but Pathan tidies up thereafter.

  •

    Over 2 Mithun 0-0-2wd-4-wd-0-0-1

12-1 - If the surface was the only consideration then India would surely have opened with a spinner, but the ball is swinging so Abhimanyu Mithun shares the new ball. The problem is that both opening bowlers are struggling to control the swing, and a couple more wides are split by a boundary from Powell, as the left-hander latches onto a short ball to pull through midwicket.

  •

    Over 1 Irfan 0-wd-0-0-0-wd-wd-1-0

4-1 - It is also welcome back Irfan Pathan to international cricket as he will get the first over. WICKET! What a start by Irfan as he strikes first ball. He strikes him in line and it straightens. Umpire Tony Hill sends Simmons on his way. Replays show it was quite high and would probably have gone over teh stumps. Marlon Samuels is the new man in Irfan gets one to come back into him. Big appeal, but it did too much. Mixed bag from the left-hander as he sends a couple down the leg-side. The first run off the bat comes with a dab to backward point for one. Gautam Gambhir decides to add another slip for Powell, but goes through to the keeper.

  •

    Welcome back

The West Indies are about to get their chase underway in Chennai. Lendl Simmons and Kieran Powell are the two opening batsman.

  •

    India 267 for six

India got off the sluggish start as Rahane and Patel were out off consecutive balls, but Tiwary and Kohli shared a century stand to put them back on track. Tiwary notched up his maiden ODI ton while Kohli hit 80 to give India a very good score on a slowish wicket. Do join us again in about 35 minutes for the chase.

  •

    Over 50 Samuels 1-2-1-4-0-1+W

267-6 - Final over and it will be bowled by Marlon Samuels. Raina looks for a big shot, but he ends up getting a single to long-on. Can Irfan make contact? Yes, he can as he squeezes it past backward point for a couple. After a single, Raina gets hold of one and gets four through square leg. WICKET! The final ball is full and it's hit to long-off. India decide to take a second, but it's a direct hit and Irfan is run out at the non-striker's end.

  •

    Over 49 Narine 0-0-0-0-0-0

258-5 - Sunil Narine will bowl the penultimate over of the innings. Missed stumping chance by the wicketkeeper. Irfan advances but he misses the leg-breaker, but Ramdin also mises the ball. Couple of swings and misses. Irfan just cannot make contact and it's a maiden so late in the innings.

  •

    Over 48 Samuels 4-2-1-0-1-0

258-5 - Here he is then, it's Irfan Pathan in ahead of Ravindra Jadeja. Samuels comes back into the attack, but Raina slaps it over cover for four. he then picks up two through the point region. Irfan is away with a single to the leg-side.

  •

    Over 47 Narine 1-1-3-1-0-W

250-5 - After a couple of singles, Rohit runs the ball it wide of short third man. They come back for a third. The 250 comes up with one wide of backward square leg. WICKET! That ball kept very low. Rohit looks to work it wide of the keeper, but it's low and he misses it completely. The ball crashes into his off-stump.

  •

    Over 46 Martin W-0-1-1-1-0

244-4 - Kohli's excellent innings comes to an end as he looks to up the ante. He uses his feet, but ends holing out to Samuels at long-on. He departs for 80 from 85 balls. His innings included only five fours. Suresh Raina is the new man in. Rohit turns over the strike with one to long-off. Raina is away with a push to the leg-side. Raina nearly runs himself out off the final ball. He pushes it straight to cover and sets off the single. There's never one there and Rohit sends him back. The throw is poor though.

  •

    Over 45 Narine 1-1-1-1-1-1

241-3 - The Windies have looked very lathargic in the field. I think players are already thinking about their flight back to the Caribbean. Narine comes back into the attack. He still has three overs left. Singles, singles and more singles.

  •

    Over 44 Martin 1-1-1-1-1-1

235-3 - This is a very good score for India on a track that is on the slow side. Plus they still have Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja in the hut. The ball is worked all around the park for six singles.

  •

    Over 43 Sammy 1-1-4-0-1-0

229-3 - Captain Sammy comes back into the attack. He conceded 21 runs in his four overs. Too straight and they pick off the singles. When does go outside off, Kohli slaps it wide of backward point for four.

  •

    Over 42 Martin 0-0-0-1-1-1

222-3 - Martin builds some pressure with three dot balls in a row. Kohli decides to give him a bit more room and he works it to long-off for one. Rohit runs it to cover. Double Nelson comes up with one down the ground.

  •

    Over 41 Roach 1-0-1-2-0-1

219-3 - India's run rate is now over five to the over. Kohli takes another single, this time to point, while Rohit drops his bat and takes on the fielder at cover. Two more to Kohli to the right of long-on.

  •

    Over 40 Martin 0-1-0-4-1-0

214-3 - This is the final over of the batting Powerplay and back on comes Anthony Martin. Rohit runs it down to long-off for a single. Short from Martin and Kohli smashes it over midwicket for a one-bounce four.

  •

    Over 39 Roach 1-0-4-0-0-1

208-3 - Worked down the ground again by Kohli. He has scored only three boundaries in his innings so far. Rohit is away with a lovely chip through extra cover for four.

  •

    Over 38 Narine 0-0-1-4-1-1

202-3 - Kohli backs away and takes a quick single to mid-off. That puts Tiwary on strike. The man from Bengal glances the ball fine and it runs away for four. He is delighted and off comes the helmet as he celebrates his maiden ODI century from 125 balls. That also brought up India's 200. The century has taken a lot of out of Tiwary and he again needs treatment. He is going off, retired hurt. Rohit Sharma joins Kohli in the middle.

  •

    Over 37 Roach 1-1-1-1-1-0

195-3 - Tiwary is down again and the physio is in the middle again. The umpire decides it's a good time to call for drinks. When play finally resumes, Kemar Roach comes back into attack. Kohli runs it down the ground for one. Tiwary take a couple of singles to go to 99. He can't get the final ball away for one though so he has to wait for his maiden ton.

  •

    Over 36 Narine 0-1-6-1-1-0

190-3 - The umpire calls for the batting Powerplay and this is a good time for India as they have two set batsmen at the crease. Sunil Narine comes into the attack again. Kohli works the ball off his legs to go to his 50 from 53 balls. A tired Tiwary brings up the 100-run partnership with six over long-off. He then goes to his highest limited-overs score with a push to the on-side. He needs more treatment for cramps in his hand and this time the umpire is on hand to help him.

  •

    Over 35 Russell 0-0-2-0-1-0

181-3 - Tiwary (90) is closing is on his maiden ODI ton. His previous highest score was 24. In fact, he hasn't scored a ton in domestic limited-overs cricket with his best 96 not out. KIohli picks up a couple to the man on the cover boundary. He goes to 49 with a single down the ground.

  •

    Over 34 Pollard 1-1-1-4-1-0

178-3 - This is way too easy for the two Indian batsman as they can have a single off almost every ball. When they play the ball straight to a fielder, the fielder knocks it on and they can cruise through for another one. Tiwary is not feeling well and he needs some treatment from the physio midway through the over. Looks like cramp in the hands. Slapped through cover by Kohli.

  •

    Over 33 Russell 0-1-1-2-1-1

170-3 - After that early wobble, India are looking good again. They still have the in form Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja to come. Thick edge from Kohli runs down to third man for one. Tiwary opens the face of the bat to get it through gully. Two more as Kohli times it to deep backward square leg.

  •

    Over 32 Pollard 0-0-1-1-2wd-1-1

164-3 - We will have some pace from this end again as Kieran Pollard comes into the attack. His earlier injury was obviously not serious. Full toss and Kohli runs it to long-off for one. Tiwary runs it to the on-side. Shocking delivery down the leg-side from Pollard and poor stuff from the wicketkeeper as well. Two wides it is.

  •

    Over 31 Russell 4-1-1-1-1-1

158-3 - The ball from Russell sits up and Kohli pulls for four through square leg. That ball asked to be hit. That brings up India's 150.

  •

    Over 30 Samuels 1-wd-4-1-1-1-1

149-3 - Samuels will continue. He is going at just over 4.40 to the over. Down the leg side for a wide. Tiwary picks up another four as he comes down the track to go between deep midwicket and long-on for four.

  •

    Over 29 Russell 0-1-0-1-2-1

139-3 - Virat Kohli's 20 runs have seen him surpass Jonathan Trott as the leading ODI run-scorer for 2011. He now has 1322 runs from 34 games to Trott's 1315 from 29 games. Change in bowling as Andre Russell is back into the attack. Couple more singles before Kohli works it through square leg. He sets off quickly for the first one and comes back for a second.

  •

    Over 28 Samuels 0-4-1-0-1lb-1lb

134-3 - Tiwary looked a bit tired at the end of the previous over and he had his hands on his knees. He is fine to continue though. Kohli gets in on the act as goes through extra cover for a boundary. A couple of leg-byes take the partnership to 50.

  •

    Over 27 Martin 0-1-1-4-2-2

127-3 - Tiwary gets onto the back foot and pushes it through extra cover. There is protection out there so it is just a single. Kohli, meanwhile, goes to long-off. Tiwary gets aggressive again and goes for a big swing to deep midwicket for four. Wasn't the prettiest shot, but it is four. Two more with a paddle around the corner. And again. This time he gets plenty of bat and it is four.

  •

    Over 26 Samuels 2-1-0-1-0-0

115-3 - Slapped down to deep backward square leg and Kohli comes back for an easy second. There's not much pressure on the batsmen from the Windies at the moment.

  •

    Over 25 Martin 1-0-0-1-1-1

111-3 - Tiwary continues to be inventive as he chips it down the ground for a single. Martin is bang on the money and all Kohli can do is drop his bat and set off for a quick one. Direct hit and the umpire refers it, but Kohli made his ground comfortably. It's four off the over without having to take any risks.

  •

    Over 24 Samuels 0-0-1-0-2-0

107-3 - Tiwary works the ball to o deep square leg for a single. Kohli picks up a couple after clipping the ball off his bads to backward square leg. The fielder does well to cut off the boundary.

  •

    Over 23 Martin 0-1-0-1lb-1-1

104-3 - Kohli takes another single to the ground. His partner is looking to transfer the pressure onto the bowler and he goes for sweep from outside off-stump, but doesn't make proper contact. There's not really a need for it as the singles are coming pretty freely at the moment.

  •

    Over 22 Samuels 0-0-0-1-1-2

100-3 - Ouch! Pollard throws his body around at midwicket to cut off a single, but he lands wwkwardly and injures his wrist. The physio is on and he decides to take the all-rounder to the dressing room for further treatment. After two singles, Tiwary gets cute as he opens the face of the bat to run it past the wicketkeeper for a couple. That brings up the hosts' century. The second fifty came off 68 balls.

  •

    Over 21 Martin 1-4-0-0-0-1

96-3 - Kohli decides to take one to long-off, but Tiwary is not interested in taking singles as he goes over mid-on for four. He keeps the strike with one down the ground.

  •

    Over 20 Samuels 1-1-1-1-1-1

90-3 - With their captain - for this match, at least - back in the hut, Kohli and Tiwary take their cue to steady ship for the time being. This won't last long. They'll soon be on the attack again.

  •

    Over 19 Martin 0-2-0-0-1-W

84-3 - Not much too Martin's bowling, and he doesn't offer a batting option at 11 in the order, so I don't know why they didn't just keep Bishoo going through the one-dayers. His performance in the Tests certainly warranted ODI selection. WICKET! And just like that, the leg-spinner proves me wrong by removing Gambhir. That was a lot more flight from the slow bowler. It struck the left-hander, who was looking to work the ball through the on-side, plumb enough in front. So ends a solid stand. Kohli in now.

  •

    Over 18 Samuels 1-1-0-1-1-1

81-2 - Windies leaking spinners all over the place now. Here's their third option of the day in the form of Samuels' off-spin. India won't take chances, rather more than happy to milk the singles on offer, of which there are plenty.

  •

    Over 17 Martin 0-0-0-0-0-1

76-2 - The leg-spinner enters the attack mid-bowling Powerplay and is all about darting 'em in than flighting 'em up. Conservative play from Tiwary, who doesn't want to throw away a chance at a half-ton and perhaps more. He'll take in these sighters to the slow bowler, and later look to push on with the attack.

  •

    Over 16 Narine 0-1-0-0-0-1

75-2 - The bowling Powerplay is taken, with the spinner sniping through a superb over free of one too many fielding restrictions.

  •

    Over 15 Sammy 1-0-4-0-1-1

73-2 - That's the thing about Sammy. He always has a perennial 'four ball' to go with every over. His latest is right in the slot for Tiwary to improvise, pressing forward to flick through midwicket in meeting the boundary at a rapid pace. The bowling and batting Powerplays are available now.

  •

    Over 14 Narine 0-1-1-0-0-0

66-2 - Solid over from the spinner, including a loud shout for lbw. It struck Tiwary on the front pad outside the line of off-stump, and was probably angling down the leg-side, so certainly no need for the finger from the umpire.

  •

    Over 13 Sammy 1-1-0-1-4-1

64-2 - Uncomfortable on the cut but outstanding down the ground, Tiwary welcomes another boundary wide of mid-on. He'll pounce on anything marginally full time and time again. This pitch is suited to his style of play to a tee. This could be his chance to show that he can hold his own among the Kohlis and the Rohits of the ODI fold.

  •

    Over 12 Narine 1-0-0-1-1-1

56-2 - Gambhir gets a first look at Narine for the day. The left-hander has faced Mendis plenty, and Narine's style isn't entirely different to that of the Sri Lankan - relatively long run-up, minimal turn, but plenty of bounce and variation.

  •

    Over 11 Sammy 0-0-0-1-1-1

52-2 - Sammy takes matters and the ball into his own hands. He affords himself quite an attacking field, with Tiwary and Gambhir left to pick off the three singles on offer. So arrives India's 50, which seemed far, far away when they were one down with just two runs on the board.

  •

    Over 10 Narine 0-0-0-2lb-0-1

49-2 - Nearly. The line is too close to the the body to cut, but Tiwary insists on the shot, almost playing onto his stumps. So ends the mandatory opening Powerplay. India sitting at a good run-rate despite the loss of two very early wickets.

  •

    Over 9 Roach 0-1-2-1-0-0

46-2 - Probably a touch too early to have leg-spinner Martin or off-spinner Samuels partner Narine in the attack, so the fast bowler continues for a much better over than the fodder strewn across his previous seven deliveries. His no-ball trouble is at bay for now.

  •

    Over 8 Narine 0-4-0-0-0-0

42-2 - Early introduction of spin. No surprise, really. Tight enuogh first over from a man playing in his first international series. Except the one delivery, which is a touch too full - for Tiwary to steer wide of mid-off for four.

  •

    Over 7 Roach 4-4-0-2nb-4-0-1

38-2 - The right-armer cops a four through cover from the left-hander on the back of a half-volley, but almost has the last laugh with a full toss. Gambhir swings at it, meets an inside edge and rides his luck past the leg-stump for four very fortunate runs. We're not done there, with Tiwary later left to slash a free-hit through the off-side for four more. Poor over from Roach - perhaps trying to hard to build on his early brace.

  •

    Over 6 Russell 0-1lb-1-0-1-1

23-2 - Russell mixing his pace well and occasionally delivery from wider of the crease than usual - keeping the batsmen guessing with interesting variation.

  •

    Over 5 Roach 1-1-0-0-0-0-3nb-0

19-2 - These conditions will offer the fast bowler very little help. He'll have to keep his lines and lengths tight if he wishes to cash in on his early brace. Tiwary and Gambhir are looking quite comfortable. There's a free-hit thanks to a no-ball, but Gambhir can't do anything with the subsequent delivery - a clever slower ball.

  •

    Over 4 Russell 1-1-0-1-0-0

14-2 - Pollard has left the field. He hurt his knee while on the dive. That's a big blow the Windies' batting and bowling if he can't resume his role after some running repairs in the dressing room.

  •

    Over 3 Roach 1-1-0-1-0-1

11-2 - Due measure from the two new men at the crease, who are happy to merely pick off the singles on offer from the chief wicket-taker of the day. Clever batting. No need for attack in this precarious situation.

    Over 2 Tiwary 0-4-0-0-1-0

7-2 - Tiwary doesn't want to suffer a similar fate to Patel and Rahane, so gets onto the front foot as much as possible. Some good timing across a pretty quick outfield eventually brings him four past mid-off. Russell will want to peg his length back a touch next time around.

    Over 1 Roach 1-W-W-0-1-0

2-2 - The Chennai pitch is already up to its low and slow tricks. WICKET! Rahane's return to the XI is marked by a golden duck. The pace ace strikes him on the front pad dead in front of the stumps. The ball hardly got above shin height. Off he mopes and in comes Parthiv. WICKET! He too lasts just one delivery. The right-hander is early on the shot, the inside edge is gathered and the stumps are castled. India in all sorts of early trouble. Tiwary in now.

    India's Innings

There might have been the idea to open with Irfan, but it's Parthiv and Gambhir at the top of the knock regardless. They're joined in the middle by umpires Asnani and Hill and the Windies XI.

    Conditions

Slow, low and abrasive track expected, with the spin bowlers expected to have a big say. India will be happy with a score of 240-plus. The weather is typical of the sub-continent - hot, humid and sweaty, with no rain forecast.

    Team News

Opener Sehwag out, yes, but spinner Ashwin too. All-rounder Irfan, playing for India for the first time in two years, and opener Rahane are in. The Windies have omitted seamer Rampaul and batsman Hyatt and brought in leg-spinner Martin and debutant batsman Mohammed.

    Toss

Stand-in for the stand-in skipper, Gambhir has triumphed in the flip of the coin and India will bat first. Visiting captain Sammy called heads, but it fell to the deck with tails facing up.

  •

    Change Of Guard

Gambhir will captain India today. Sehwag, who was leading the side in the absence of the rested Dhoni, will get a break after his monstrous effort in the fourth one-dayer.

    Greetings

Hello and welcome to our over-by-over commentary of the fifth and final ODI between India and the West Indies at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai. The host wrapped up an unassailable three-one series lead in Indore recently, so this match presents them with a chance to test different combinations. Meanwhile, the Windies have plenty of pride to play for, of course.
