    Target

Bangladesh need 142, but here comes the science bit. If they make those runs in 14.2 overs they will go through to the Super Eights at Australia's expense. If they manage to reach their target in 18.5 overs, then Pakistan will be the team having to book an early flight home. Geddit?

    Over 20: Shafiul 1-1-1-1-2-1w(W)-2

141-7 - WICKET! - After the onslaught in recent overs Bangladesh - and Shafiul in particular - finish the innings off fairly well, conceding nine runs. All of them have to be scampered. Smith is run out off what should be the final ball trying to sneak a bye to the wicketkeeper. However he's done his bit in helping Australia get up to a challenging total. Hussey finishes up on 47 not out from only 29 deliveries.

  •

    Over 19: Razzak 6-1-1-6-0-0

132-6 - Smith slams Razzak away over mid-wicket for a six off the first ball of the over - that's the perfect start to the penultimate over. The all-rounder repeats the trick, this time with a flat-batted pull that means the ball sails even further. Despite two dot balls to finish, the pair of maximums make it 14 from the over.

  •

    Over 18: Shakib 4-1-4-1-1-1b

118-6 - Hussey is feasting on the full tosses, reverse-sweeping away Shakib's first ball of the over. Smith joins in the fun, coming down the wicket and lifting the left-armer away over the fielder at cover for his first boundary. This seventh-wicket partnership is now worth 53 from 31 balls as we head into the final 12 balls of the Australian innings.

  •

    Over 17: Mortaza 6-1-1-4-4-1

106-6 - Hussey opens up, cashing in on a legside half-volley from Mortaza and pumping the ball into the seats over the rope at sq1-uare leg with an easy-as-you-like pick-up shot off of his pads. The Australian century comes up when the same batsman steers away a full toss past the fine leg fielder up in the circle, while the fifth delivery of the over goes for four more, this time glided away past the short third man. A single off the last makes it 17 from Mortaza's final over, ruining his final figures.

  •

    Over 16: Shafiul 2-0-1-1-1-2

89-6 - Shafiul returns for a third spell - Shakib has surprisingly not called on someone like Mahmudullah to bowl a few more overs of spin on this turning pitch. Hussey gets two with a delightful drive through the covers and, after the addition of three singles, Smith finishes the over with a drive through backward point that nets a pair of runs.

  •

    Over 15: Razzak 0-2-4-1w-1-0-0

82-6 - The barren period without a boundary comes to an end when Hussey swivels on a severe long-hop from Razzak and pulls it away behind square on the leg side. With a wide it's eight from the over, though the final two deliveries are both dot balls to Steven Smith.

  •

    Over 14: Ashraful 1-2-1-1-2-1

74-6 - A pair of scampered twos make it eight from the over - Australia haven't hit a boundary now for 60 balls. Ashraful's finished his work with the ball, ending with fine figures of one for 24 from his four overs. The Aussies are on target now for 106.

  •

    Over 13: Shakib 0-1-1-0-W-1

66-6 - WICKET! - White pays the price for backing away, missing a delivery that spins enough to beat his attempted drive and clip the outside half of the off stick. If England made hard work of it with the bat yesterday then Australia are going even worse here right now. Steven Smith is in at number eight with a slip for company. He gets off the mark with a single from the final delivery of Shakib's third over.

  •

    Over 12: Ashraful 0-1-1-1-1-1

63-5 - With not much left in the hutch (remember there's no Mitchell Johnson today), White and Michael Hussey, possibly the best number seven in world cricket, are forced to make do with risk-free shots for singles. For some reason Australia's top order seem to have been caught cold by the amount of bounce in this pitch.

  •

    Over 11: Mortaza 1-1-0-1-W-1

58-5 - WICKET! - The Australians continue to push their luck, this time White leaving Hussey having to hustle with a quick single when he'd hit the ball almost directly to the man at point. However the Tigers don't have to wait too long to get wicket no.5, Hussey slapping the next ball high in the air for wicketkeeper Rahim to run around and catch. Bangladesh haven't won a T20 International since September 2007 - is today the day they end their miserable run in the shortest format?

  •

    Over 10: Ashraful 2-1-0-W-1-1

54-4 - WICKET! - Having batted carefully Clarke gives his wicket away, coming down the wicket to loft Ashraful straight out to the man at long-off. Clarke is fuming as he makes his way off the field, smacking his bat with his glove in frustration. It could have been two-in-two when Hussey slams a drive out to the same fielder, only this time Jahural Islam can't hang on. That could of been Australia at five down midway through their innings.

  •

    Over 9: Shakib 2-1-0-0-1-0

49-3 - This is far from easy going for Australia, who are having to make do with singles and the odd two on a track that seems tailor-made for the plethora of slow bowlers Bangladesh have. If they continue at this rate, the Aussies will make just 109. It will then be up to the Tigers to chase them down in a certain time to knock out Pakistan.

  •

    Over 8: Ashraful 1-1w-1-1-0-0-2

45-3 - Mohammad Ashraful is called into the attack. He bowls spin, though no ones quite sure which type of spin it will be until he's running up. Today he's plumped for the off variety, and it comes out pretty well. There's some turn for him and Australia are only able to pick up six from his over.

  •

    Over 7: Razzak 1-1-W-1-0-1

39-3 - WICKET! - Haddin can't resist having a swipe at Razzak when the left-armer floats one up above his eye-line. However his attempts to sweep the ball over the rope only result in a top edge to the fielder at short third man. Only four from the over - are Australia struggling in their trial by spin?

  •

    Over 6: Shafiul 1-1-0-1-1-1

35-2 - After taking the catch to remove Watson, Aftab is presented with the chance to inflict a run out when Clarke calls Haddin through for a suicidal single. However the Bangladesh fielder rushes his throw whilst diving forward, meaning the ball dribbles well wide of the stumps at the bowler's end. Clarke would have been gone, too with a direct hit.

  •

    Over 5: Razzak 0-1-0-1-1-0

30-2 - Abdur Razzak makes it spin from both ends - expect to see plenty of slow bowlers called into action for Bangladesh. Brad Haddin is the new man in at four and both he and Clarke keep the scoreboard ticking over with some scampered singles.

  •

    Over 4: Shakib 0-W-0-0-0-6

27-2 - WICKET! - Having been fortunate to survive Shakib's first delivery, Warner then falls to the second. The left-hander can't risk going aerial but he's beaten in the flight, meaning the ball just loops out to the fielder at deep mid-wicket. Clarke is then on strike as he crossed with Warner as the ball was in the air - he pats back the next three balls before ruining Shakib's hopes of a wicket maiden with a straight six.

  •

    Over 3: Mortaza W-0-4-1-0-0

21-1 - WICKET! - Watson perishes for four from seven deliveries, top-edging a pull out towards backward square leg where Aftab Ahmed takes the catch, finishing with a gymnastic tumble to boot. Captain Michael Clarke is in at three but before he can face he gets to stand and watch Warner flay a short ball away through point. A single then puts the skipper in the firing line but he safely negotiates his first two balls, the second of which seemed to swing away from him.

  •

    Over 2: Shafiul 0-1w-0-2-1-6-4

16-0 - Shafiul is bustling in and loudly appeals for leg before against Watson (it's unlikely to be hitting leg on another set). However his pace is just perfect for Warner, who finishes the second over with a flat-batted six and then a chipped four, both shots going straight down the ground. After conceding just two off the first two legal deliveries, that over has cost 14.

  •

    Over 1: Mortaza 0-0-1-0-1-0

2-0 - Well we can quickly see that there's some life in this pitch. Warner is hurried with the first ball and then, after the left-hander sneaks a single, Watson is done for pace and bounce by a lively delivery from Mortaza. Each Australian opener gets off the mark.

    Teams

Australia are without Mitchell Johnson due to an infection with his elbow, meaning Ryan Harris gets a chance in the attack. The bigger news, though, concerns Bangladesh. Tamim Iqbal is a notable absentee from their line-up, a blow for their hopes and us neutrals alike.

  •

    Pitch

Pommie is purring over this pitch, saying it's a good surface for batting. He's also expecting it to stay the same for the whole 40 overs scheduled. We have a longest boundary of 71 metres, so the forecast is for maximums. Because we're not in Guyana there should be no rain.

  • Toss

Ravi Shastri is shouting extremely loudly at the toss, but we can still just about here Michael Clarke call 'tails'. Tails it is too, so Australia are going to have a bat first on what looks a good pitch.

  •

    Situation

This is the final day of the group stages, so there's plenty to play for here. Australia currently top Group A after victory over Pakistan, meaning Bangladesh need to win, and win extremely well, to knock out the defending champions.
