    Over 2: Rampaul 1-1w-0-W-4-W-0

11-3 - WICKETS! Ireland have been hit by a double Sammy (apologies, but it is getting late)! That man is in the right place again to take his second catch, this time at mid-wicket, when Paul Stirling makes a right mess trying to pull a short ball from Ravi Rampaul. Niall O'Brien briefly responds by thrashing the next ball away through the covers for four runs, only to then nick the fifth delivery of the over through to wicketkeeper Ramdin. That target of 139 sure looks a long way away now for the Irish.

  •

    Over 1: Roach 4-W-0-1-0-0

5-1 - WICKET! - Porterfield lasts two balls and plays the same shot to both of them. The first delivery from Roach is full and, attempting a drive, the left-hander edges it away past the second of two slips. Roach runs in and sends the same delivery down again, except this time it takes the outside edge of Porterfield's bat and goes through to Darren Sammy at that second slip position.

  •

    Run chase

So Ireland set out in pursuit of 139 to pull off a shock result. It's not like the West Indies weren't warned, their opponents were a real surprise package in the Caribbean at the 2007 World Cup. Of course if the hosts do lose, then Chris Gayle could get plenty of time to rest his stiff back.

  •

    Over 20: Cusack 1-0-0-2nb-2-2-W

138-9 - WICKET! - The West Indies' innings ends with a whimper - which pretty much sums it up. After the aid of a hip-high no ball from Cusack, who finishes with figures of two for 19, the final delivery sees a ninth wicket go down when Rampaul chips a catch up for mid-wicket to take running around. The hosts managed just the seven fours and four maximums. Don't forget that Sri Lanka failed to defend a similar total earlier in the day, so the Irish have a fighting chance here of an upset win.

  •

    Over 19: Botha W-2-W-1-0-2

130-8 - WICKETS! - After all the big build-up, after all that waiting, Pollard was bound to fall cheaply. Botha catches out Keiron with a well-disguised slower ball that hits high on the splice of the bat, meaning it loops nicely up for the bowler himself to take a simple return catch. Sammy goes just two balls later too, this time his big hit only finding the safe hands of Irish skipper William Porterfield out at long-on. We've got one over left and the Windies will be looking for 140.

  •

    Over 18: Johnston 6-2-1-2-1-6

125-6 - Call for the glazers! Sammy's made a smashing impact on a window in the pavilion after putting his foot down the wicket and launching into Johnston's first ball back into the attack. The same batsman ends the over as he started it, though this time he pumps a back-of-the-length ball over the rope at mid-wicket. That's got the crowd off their feet, with Sammy now having 28 to his name having faced just 15 deliveries.

  •

    Over 17: Rankin 0-1-4-4-1-4

107-6 - Pollard's arrival has led to the tempo being raised...except it's Sammy doing the scoring. The all-rounder hits three boundaries - all of them on the leg side - to ruin Rankin's otherwise excellent figures of two for 35 from his four. With two singles as well, the 17th over proves to be the biggest for the West Indies so far. They need more of the same now, with just 18 balls remaining in the innings.

  •

    Over 16: Dockrell 0-1-0-1-0-W

93-6 - WICKET! - Boy George has led the Windies a merry dance tonight, getting his third wicket when the becalmed Deonarine tries to slog him into the sea, instead only sending the ball high into the air for wicketkeeper O'Brien to pouch. Dockrell - with plenty of silver in his hair despite being just 17 - finishes with excellent figures of three for 16 from his four-over stint. Now Pollard is finally coming out to bat with his side in desperate need of a spark.

  •

    Over 15: Botha 0-0-0-0-1-1

91-5 - Deonarine pats back four balls before finally getting down the other end with a slogged single out to deep mid-wicket. Sammy shows him how it should be done, tickling an easy one to make it a whole two runs from the over - the West Indies are going backwards right now.

  •

    Over 14: Dockrell 3-0-1-1-1-1

90-5 - Deonarine gets a streaky three when an inside edge nutmegs 'keeper O'Brien. The West Indies will take all the runs they can get right now as their scoring rate continues to struggle against the Irish tide. Andre Botha is the latest bowler to be used with his medium pace.

  •

    Over 13: Rankin 1-1-0-2-1-W

83-5 - WICKET! - The crowd are trying to make some noise to lift their side's run-rate but it's not had the desired affect yet. In fact their cause has got even worse now that Ramdin is the fifth man to fall - the wicketkeeper-batsman strangled down the leg side, giving Rankin a cheap wicket at the end of another tight over. Pollard is still not in at seven (it's Sammy instead), what are the Windies saving him for - Christmas?

  •

    Over 12: Dockrell 1-W-1-W-0-1

78-4 - WICKETS! - Dockrell - or Boy George as David Lloyd has just called him on commentary - does for Fletcher, teasing the opener with a flighted delivery that he just can't resist having a go at. However his attempts to clear the rope fall short, Kevin O'Brien judging the catch superbly out at long-on. New man Narsingh Deonarine gets a single and then Sarwan has a heave at the spinner as well, only holing out to mid-off to become the second wicket in the over. Ramdin is in at six - we still await the chance to see Keiron Pollard have a bat.

  •

    Over 11: Johnston 1-1-1-2-1-1

76-2 - Johnston comes back on having celebrated his 36th birthday yesterday. Both Sarwan and Fletcher attempt some big hits but fail to make a decent connection, meaning only five singles and a two from the 11th over. O'Brien - who is sporting a maroon helmet behind the stumps that must be from Northamptonshire rather than the West Indies - shouts "don't let it go quiet". That's highly unlikely with him so close to the stump microphone.

  •

    Over 10: Dockrell 1-2-1-1-0-1

69-2 - Dockrell's not afraid to give it a bit of flight and the pitch responds to his bravery by showing signs of turn - how the Windies wished Benn was fit to play in this match. At this current rate (6.90) the hosts would make 138. Eight-an-over from here on out - and with Pollard and other hitters to come - would mean a total of 149.

  •

    Over 9: Stirling 2-2-1-1w-1-0-4

63-2 - Finally the scoreboard gets a move on, Sarwan helping take 11 from the over thanks to a pair of twos straight down the ground and a thick edge from the final delivery that races away off the lush outfield to find the boundary rope at third man. Ireland are now going to go with spin from both ends, bringing the teenager George Dockrell into the attack.

  •

    Over 8: Cusack 1-1-2-0-0-1

52-2 - The West Indies reach their half-century when Fletcher pushes hard and gets back for a scampered two off the third delivery. However two dot balls make sure there's no serious damage done. O'Brien continues to keep the chatter going from behind the sticks, barely finding time to take a breath as he barks at his team-mates.

  •

    Over 7: Stirling 1-1-0-0-1-1

47-2 - Time for a change of pace now as Paul Stirling comes into the attack with his right-arm offies. Wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien says he can "feel the squeeze" and Ireland certainly have the Windies tied down - only four singles come from Stirling's opening over.

  •

    Over 6: Cusack 6-W-0-0-0-0

43-2 - WICKET! Bravo bangs Cusack away over point for a six off the front foot...only to then perish to the next delivery for 18. A much straighter delivery is driven in the air straight at the bowler, who makes a mess of taking the catch before eventually holding at the third attempt when the ball sits kindly on his leg as he crumples to the ground. Ramnaresh Sarwan is in at four and bats back the next four deliveries, meaning it's a six and a wicket in the sixth over.

  •

    Over 5: O'Brien 4-0-1-2-0-1

37-1 - O'Brien pays the price for bowling too straight at Fletcher, who uses a lot of bottom hand to whip an aerial drive away through straightish mid-wicket for his first four of the match. However the big all-rounder recovers from the poor start, conceding only four more runs off the other five balls. Alex Cusack takes over from Johnston, who went for just 11 runs off his first two overs.

  •

    Over 4: Johnston 0-1-1lb-2-0-6

29-1 - After looking a little uncomfortable against Johnston, Bravo finally gets to grips with the seamer off the final ball of the fourth over. A superb straight drive goes 80m, taking it well over the sightscreen for the first maximum of the match. Ireland are going to make a change in their attack, Rankin making way for Kevin O'Brien.

  •

    Over 3: Rankin 0-2-0-4-4-W

19-1 - WICKET - Chanderpaul opens his and the Windies' boundary account with a well-timed flick away through square leg. We don't have to wait long for a second, Kevin O'Brien losing a pull shot in the sun down at fine leg to allow the ball to run away over the rope. However Shiv's attempts to make it a hat-trick only end up in a top edge going high out towards point, Gary Wilson making no mistakes with the simple catch. Stand-in skipper Dwayne Bravo is the new man in at three.

  •

    Over 2: Johnston 0-1-0-0-0-1

9-0 - Johnston - who was heroic as skipper in Ireland's sensational World Cup run in the Caribbean three years ago - may not have the speed of Rankin but he knows just where to plonk it down on the pitch. Each batsmen picks up a single but with wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien up to the stumps and all deliveries full and straight, the Windies duo know they will need to take some risks if they want to dominate the canny Australian-born medium-pacer.

  •

    Over 1: Rankin 1-0-3-2-0-1

7-0 - Boyd Rankin gets proceedings underway and starts with a steady over, well steady enough in T20 terms. Andre Fletcher is looking to work everything to leg, something he does successfully to pick up a two and a pair of singles, while opening partner Shivnarine Chanderpaul opens his account with a lovely cover drive for three. It's going to be Trent Johnston from the Pavilion End.

  •

    Crowd

The stadium - which is a little out of Guyana - is almost full, though that is hardly a big surprise with the hosts in action.

  •

    Teams

So Bravo is leading the Windies tonight as Chris Gayle has a bit of a stiff back, one he is not willing to risk in a game that his side should win. Sulieman Benn, who had been likely to open the bowling, and Jerome Taylor are also sidelined. Ireland have included 17-year-old spinner George Dockrell in their starting XI.

  • Toss

The news from the middle is that Dwayne Bravo (hang on, I'll get to that in a minute) has won the toss and opted to bat first. Remember that this game is being played on the same pitch as was used for the tournament opener.

  •

    Good evening

And welcome to over-by-over coverage of game two of the ICC World Twenty20. After that thriller between the Kiwis and Sri Lanka, we now get to see the hosts in action against outsiders Ireland.
