Online bookmaker Sky Bet have made Nathan Cleverly the odds-on favourite to win his highly anticipated rematch with Tony Bellew.

Cleverly took a majority decision victory over Bellew in 2011, with the Welshman successfully defending his old WBO light-heavyweight title.

Both fighters have since moved up to cruiserweight and crossed paths on the same card on Saturday night at Liverpool’s Echo Arena, where they each registered impressive stoppage wins.

With Matchroom Boxing now promoting both Cleverly and Bellew, a rematch appears imminent and a date is expected to be confirmed by Eddie Hearn for later in the year.

As such, Sky Bet are already taking bets on who will win, making Cleverly the 4/7 favourite, while Bellew’s backers can lay on the Liverpudlian at 5/4.

Sky Bet’s Dale Tempest said: “It looks like we could have another major domestic fight on our hands in 2014 to follow on from the second meeting between Carl Froch and George Groves.

“The Cleverly-Bellew rematch won’t be quite as popular with our punters, but there is demand to bet already as the public begin to take sides before the fight has even been confirmed.

“We’re satisfying the demand, and we’ve already seen a few bets on a draw at 25/1, while Bellew’s price was trimmed from 6/4 to 5/4 after he impressively became the first man to stop Julio Cesar Dos Santos.

“If, for whatever reason, the fight doesn’t come off in 2014, we’ll refund any bets placed, but I don’t think there’s any danger of the public being denied this one.”
