Scott Quigg says preparations are going well as he looks to defend his world super-bantamweight title against Kiko Martinez on July 18

Scott Quigg is still confident of facing super-bantamweight rival Carl Frampton providing he gets past Kiko Martinez on July 18.

The Bury fighter defends his WBA super-bantamweight title against the Spaniard in Manchester - live on Sky Sports - and with IBF champion Frampton in action on the same night against Alejandro Gonzalez Jr, Quigg remains hopeful of a unification bout with 'The Jackal.'

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Quigg said: "First and foremost we've got to take care of business. If we both come through these fights then it's a fight everyone wants to see - not just in Britain but also world boxing wants to see it.

"I'm confident the fight can be made and it's the fight I'll be going after next. He's the No 1 I want to fight. It's the biggest fight for me and the biggest for him. I want to prove I'm the best.

"My hand injury has healed well. It's fully healed and training is going fantastic. We're in the thick of the sparring now, which is the bit I enjoy and we're nailing the gameplan for what we're going to do on the night.

"I'm expecting a very tough fight. As we know, Carl Frampton beat him twice but they were tough fights and Martinez had a lot of moments where he caused Frampton problems.

"Frampton showed the blueprint of how to beat him. He boxed him and was smart. That's what I've got to do - be smart and break him down. It'll be tough but I'm confident of coming through.

"There'll be comparisons with how I beat him and how Carl beat him. The main thing is getting the win but it's also important to look good doing it."

Also fighting at the MEN Arena on the night will be local lightweight Anthony Crolla, who challenges Darleys Perez for the WBA world title.
