Where does he come from?

Born in Venezuela, the 29-year-old started his career in Japan and has travelled regularly in the paid ranks. Linares should not be fazed by a visit to London as he has already made trips to Argentina, Panama, Mexico and America.

How do we know he's dedicated to the noble art?

When aged 17 and legally not allowed to box in Venezuela, the fresh-faced youngster uprooted himself 9,000 miles around the world to live in Tokyo. With one Spanish-speaking trainer, he split his time between the gym and a lonely apartment. But it worked - Japan remains his home to this day.

How long has he been fighting?

He has built up a wealth of experience in 41 fights, including seven world title fights. Linares has held three versions of the world title and has fought in three divisions.

He's the 'Golden Boy' - have I heard that nickname before?

Jorge Linares is a world champion fighter and is determined to give Kevin Mitchell a difficult time in the ring.
Oscar de la Hoya

Yes. Linares linked up with Oscar De La Hoya's promotional company and was handed the same moniker as the ring legend.

Who was his best performance against?

Arguably his best win was against the decorated Mexican Oscar Larios. He marked his Las Vegas debut in dazzling fashion, halting Larios in 10 rounds to claim the WBC featherweight title in 2007.

What can we expect when the first bell sounds?

Linares works behind a solid jab and possesses decent punch power, with 25 of his 38 wins coming inside the distance. Mitchell is a skilful operator, but could have his hands full against an opponent with neat footwork and swift hand speed.

Is he going to make a big impact in Britain?

Mitchell is often involved in thrillers and Linares would etch his name in the memory of fight fans if he overcomes the Londoner in front of his own fans.

Where can I find more about him in the build-up

Well, Twitter is always a good way to start. @JorgeLinares is his Twitter account where he often posts untranslatable Spanish comments such as "Excelente KO @Canelo".
