Nicola Adams is among three London 2012 gold medallists named in Great Britain's 153-strong team for the inaugural European Games in Baku this summer.

Adams will be joined by Olympic taekwondo champion Jade Jones and canoeist Ed McKeever in the Azerbaijani capital in June.

Flyweight Adams, who is the first female boxer to win an Olympic title, is part of a four-strong women's boxing squad which also includes former world champion and Sky Academy Sports Scholar Savannah Marshall as well as this year's world silver medallist Lisa Whiteside.

"It will be great to compete again in the Team GB vest and I am really looking forward to the European Games,” said Adams.

“I have a very good track record in multi-sports events and I hope this will be another enjoyable experience and useful preparation for the Olympics in Rio next year."

The male boxers selected to represent Great Britain at the Games will be added to the team at a later date.

Britain is not sending any cyclists to contest the respective road race disciplines, while other high-profile absentees include triathlon's Brownlee brothers and top gymnastics stars.

The swimming programme is restricted to age-level competition while a token athletics programme involves only third-level continental nations.

Team GB's Chef de Mission Mark England said: "It's fantastic to be able to announce the athletes who will be competing for Team GB at Baku 2015.

“It's a great opportunity for many of them to test themselves against Europe's best, gain crucial multi-sport games experience or build on their road to Rio 2016."
