Amir Khan has outlined his plans for 2015, with a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr in May top of his wishlist.

Khan produced arguably the best performance of his career to comprehensively outpoint three-time world champion Devon Alexander in Las Vegas on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has once again called out Mayweather, and suggested a clash with Manny Pacquiao could also be on the cards for late 2015.

It's finished my year off with a big bang and hopefully now I can look forward to a big fight in the future

"The plan would be the Mayweather fight in May, because he likes to fight in May," Khan, who has stepped up from his previous light welterweight category, told Sky Sports News HQ.

"I've proven my point and my position in the world of boxing and now I've fought twice in the welterweight division.

"This time last year, I was very close to getting a fight with Mayweather. It didn't happen but now I've proven myself, I think that fight would be ideal for me. I think I've got the style to cause him a lot of problems.

"Then at the end of the year I'd love the Manny Pacquiao fight - I think that fight could definitely happen and I'd be confident I could win that. I think it's a great time to catch those guys."

As ever in boxing, the route to the fights Khan would like to take may not be straightforward with Mayweather and Pacquiao potentially facing each other in a much-anticipated bout next year.

Challenge

Khan said his performance against Alexander had put him in a position to challenge the big names in the welterweight division.

"I knew that by winning it - and winning it in good fashion - it would set me up for a huge megafight for 2015," he said.

"It's finished my year off with a big bang and hopefully now I can look forward to a big fight in the future.

"Sometimes the fights I've lost, like Breidis Prescott or Danny Garcia, I didn't know much about my opponents. I was the bigger fish and maybe I didn't take it seriously.

"But when you're up against a three-time world champion you know you have to be on your A-game, you can't make any mistakes. I was really focused and I thought that if I want to keep going I have to keep on winning and looking good in these fights.

"I've watched the fight back and I look a lot quicker than I felt in the ring. Normally when you go up a weight you lose your speed because you work on your power and put muscle on but the speed was there."
