Eddie Hearn: Hopeful of making Brook v Khan

Promoter Eddie Hearn is targeting another British super-fight with newly-crowned IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook taking on former light-welterweight king Amir Khan.

Brook seized Shawn Porter's belt via a points victory in Carson, California in the early hours of Sunday morning and while legendary names such as Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are now within the Sheffield fighter's reach, Hearn is hoping to emulate Carl Froch v George Groves II by securing a huge domestic showdown with Khan.

Having watched 28-year-old Brook fulfil his boyhood dream, Hearn said: "He's just put himself up there with the very biggest names in the division. I think we'll go and defend the title back home in November or December.

"Then I suppose we better give the British public the fight that everybody wants, and that's the Amir Khan fight.

"I've mentioned the names - Pacquiao, Mayweather and Porter. Those are the long-term goals but now it's about going back to Britain and celebrating a new world champion.

"We'll be doing a lot of planning over the next couple of weeks. We'll look for that big fight next year - maybe with Khan or maybe with Pacquiao or Mayweather.

"Kell has wanted the Khan fight for three or four years. The British public has wanted it for 18 months or a year. It was always 'if Kell had a belt...' but now he's got one and I think Kell can probably call the shots. I don't think Amir will like that!

"If everyone sits down and realises this is a great fight for Britain. There's a lot of money to be made for both fighters. We saw what happened between Carl Froch and George Groves at Wembley and we can do something like that again."

Khan recently established himself in the welterweight division by beating Luis Collazo to the WBC Silver and International welterweight titles in Las Vegas courtesy of a unanimous decision.
