Gennady Golovkin tipped the scales just over half a pound heavier than Australian Daniel Geale ahead of the pair’s WBA middleweight showdown in New York on Saturday.

WBA champion Golovkin scaled 159.8lbs, while Geale came in at 159.2lbs for the title fight at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, live on Sky Sports.

Knockout specialist Golovkin comes into the contest boasting an undefeated record of 29 wins from 29 fights, with 26 of those victories coming inside the distance.

But the Kazakh fighter faces a potentially difficult opponent in former IBF champion Geale who has lost just twice in his 32-fight career – one of those coming to Barnet boxer Darren Barker.
