Undisputed world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko easily retained his WBO crown when he knocked out Alex Leapai of Australia in the fifth round on Saturday night in Germany.

The 38-year-old Klitschko, unbeaten 10 years, defended his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO belts in Oberhausen.

He was in complete control of his 25th world title fight as he knocked-out Leapai with two minutes, five seconds of the fifth round.

'Dr Steel Hammer' - taller with a longer reach, toyed with Leapai, controlling the fight at will, scoring with left jabs and straight rights with hardly any opposition from his younger challenger.

Leapai, a delivery truck driver, went down when he was hit with a left-right combination. He got up but three-time world champion Klitschko put him away for good with 58 seconds left in the fifth with a lethal combination.

"It wasn't easy, my head was in Ukraine and what is going on there. I hope there is no war and people dying. I am proud of my people," Klitschko said.

It was his 53rd KO in 62 wins, with three defeats. Leapai dropped to 30-5, with three draws.
