Floyd Mayweather has vowed to face Amir Khan if the British fighter defeats Adrien Broner.

Khan had been on a two-man shortlist to battle Mayweather in a big-money summer showdown, but was left bitterly disappointed when the American superstar announced last week he would fight Marcos Maidana on May 3.

The Bolton boxer's hopes of challenging the sport's No 1 fighter do not appear to be over as Mayweather suggests Khan will earn a meeting with him if he gets past Broner.

Just last week, Khan admitted he was keen to battle Broner, whose unbeaten record was ended by Maidana in December, and the pair could feature on Mayweather's undercard.

Mayweather tweeted: "I don't have an easy fight on May 3, 2014, so I can't over look @ChinoMaidana but @AmirKingKhan, if you and @AdrienBroner end up fighting each other on my show and you win (which you won't)... I'll fight you."

Khan discussed the Broner fight on Sky Sports' Ringside, saying: "A few names have been put to me - even someone like Broner would be a great fight for me.

"The fight would probably be in America and possibly be on a Floyd card as well. But I have a contract with Showtime, so I have my own television deal in the US.

"More than likely the fight will probably be in America. There are a few names, I'm going to sit down with Golden Boy and my team."
