David Price: Laid low with a virus
David Price has been forced out of his scheduled return against Evgeny Orlov this weekend after picking up a virus.
The former British and Commonwealth champion was hoping to start the rebuilding process against the Russian following his two shock defeats to Tony Thompson.
New promoter Sauerland had inked a low-key comeback in Germany for Price, who will now be back in action in the new year.
"It is unfortunate but these things happen and one has to act responsibly," said promoter Kalle Sauerland.
"This is a minor set back and has no effect on our plans for Pricey. He will be back in the ring at the beginning of the New Year."
"Obviously I am disappointed,'' said Price. "I was looking forward to my first fight back but I wouldn't be doing myself or my fans justice by taking the fight when I am anything less than 100%."
The towering former Olympic bronze medallist recently opted to hand in his titles rather than face mandatory challenger Dereck Chisora without a warm-up fight.
