James Degale is tipping Carl Froch to beat his old rival George Groves
James DeGale believes Saturday's super middleweight showdown between Carl Froch and George Groves is not the "one-horse race" that some predict.
Froch is odds-on to retain his WBA and IBF titles against Groves in Manchester, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
Groves appeared to have got under the champion's skin in the pre-fight verbal sparring on Ringside recently but DeGale points out that Froch has seen it all before.
DeGale hopes to fight the winner
DeGale is tipping Froch to win by a late stoppage but admits he would not be surprised if his bitter-rival dethroned the champion.
Groves previously upset the odds when he claimed a one-point majority verdict over DeGale in May 2011.
"Froch is a true professional, he's been around for years, he's been there, he's done it," DeGale told Sky Sports
"He has seen the flash, cocky pretenders coming up, he's seen the true professionals; he has seen it all.
"To be honest I don't think it is the one-horse race that people think. A lot of people think it's Carl Froch's fight and he's going to take him out early, I don't."
DeGale on the fight
"Looking at Ringside, which was funny by the way, I think he is just taking it all in his stride. I think on fight night, none of that is going to matter. There are just two of them in the ring and they are going to go toe-to-toe.
"To be honest I don't think it is the one-horse race that people think. A lot of people think it's Carl Froch's fight and he's going to take him out early, I don't.
"I think it's going to be competitive for eight rounds but Froch is going to get him late on in the championship rounds and stop him late on.
"But saying that, It wouldn't surprise me if 'Ugly Kid' pulls this off and that's on a serious note."
