Luke Campbell has no qualms being on Anthony Joshua's undercard at the O2 Arena
Olympic champion Luke Campbell makes a low-key second appearance as a professional at the O2 Arena on Saturday night.
Campbell made a mid-summer debut in his hometown of Hull amid great fanfare, but with fellow gold medallist Anthony Joshua taking the limelight this weekend he is happy to take a back seat.
"It's nice to be under the radar, it can be a lot of pressure on someone's shoulders when they are always in the headlines," he told Sky Sports. "But it's nice to be part of a great undercard.
"Hull was everything it promised to be, I really enjoyed it and I hope the fight fans did too. I went in there expecting to do the six rounds, but that's boxing, I landed a good shot and got an early night.
"My profile is higher than ever, it's great for the city and it's nice for people to be talking about something other than football and rugby."
Campbell was a highly-decorated amateur, even before his Olympic heroics, but says the switch to the paid ranks has not been a difficult one.
"It's nice to be under the radar, it can be a lot of pressure on someone's shoulders when they are always in the headlines."
"The transition is going great, I'm getting better all the time, learning every week and my body is adapting to doing more rounds," he added.
"I never went to the gym thinking I've got to change this and that. I'm just doing what I always did, just doing double the rounds and adding on to my style as it is."
Campbell takes on a decent opponent in Neil Hepper at the weekend but he is not fazed by what could be an early test in his career.
"It's what I need, I'm excited for Saturday night and showing people what I can do."
