Danny Garcia says he will prove he is the best light-welterweight in the world when he puts his titles on the line against Lucas Matthysse on September 14.

The reigning WBC and WBA champion goes in against the feared Argentinian who has earned 32 of his 34 wins by knockout.

Many are tipping Matthysse to come away with the belts but Garcia, who knocked out Amir Khan and has since beaten Erik Morales and Zab Judah, is confident he will extend his unbeaten record to 27.

"I'm still champion and the people who don't believe - hey that's their problem. I know in my heart I'm the best 140 pound fighter in the world."

"You know I really don't care what the media thinks or who they think is the best because in my heart I know I'm the best, and I hold the titles, and September 14th is going to be another day at work for me," he said.

"I'm still champion and the people who don't believe - hey that's their problem. I know in my heart I'm the best 140 pound fighter in the world, and I'm going to show it on September 14th.

"I've fought big punchers. I took big shots before...I'm just going to be smart. I'm going to do what I do best, make adjustments in the fight and get the victory."

Garcia was still rugged when he fought Khan as a huge underdog, and he still hasn't received the recognition he feels he deserves. However, victory over Matthysse would put that right.

"I feel like I'm before my time," he added. "A lot of people still don't understand it because I'm not supposed to be here right now. It wasn't supposed to be my time right now.

"I made it my time. I took it and the people still don't understand it but I'm just going to keep building my legacy and proving myself."

The fight will act as chief support as Floyd Mayweather takes on Saul Alvarez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
