Carl Froch: Recorded a thrilling victory over Mikkel Kessler in his last fight

Sky Bet

Carl Froch has called on George Groves to "stand and fight" during their world title bout later this year.

Froch will defend his IBF and WBA super middleweight titles against the unbeaten Londoner in November or December, live on Sky Sports.

The 36-year-old, who defeated Mikkel Kessler in May to claim the IBF belt, has urged Groves not to turn the fight into a "running and hiding mission" and to treat the fans to a memorable contest.

Froch told Sky Sports News: "It's a real treat for British fight fans that this is a domestic dust-up.

"I don't think Groves should be telling me to bring my 'A-game' though and to not take him lightly. He should want me to be unprofessional and to not prepare meticulously.

"Since dropping a decision to Andre Ward, you've seen what I've done to the unbeaten Canadian, Lucian Bute, and to Mikkel Kessler.

"When I'm firing on all cylinders it's very difficult for anyone to beat me and stand up to my power. I punch very hard with those small gloves and George Groves knows that.

"Stand and fight. Give the fight fans what they want because this is a fight that rarely happens."

Running

"He'll listen to (Adam) Booth, probably get on his back foot and box around the ring, but the fans want to see a fight. Do your moving and boxing for three or four rounds but don't make it a running and hiding mission.

"Stand and fight. Give the fight fans what they want because this is a fight that rarely happens.

"George Groves is at the top of his game. He is an established prospect and is now in a position to fight for a world title.

"I've been at the top level for the last four or five years, fighting the best of the best, and people know what they're getting with me.

"Let's just make it a great sporting occasion."
