Wladimir Klitschko will defend his three world heavyweight titles against Alexander Povetkin on October 5.

The Ukrainian has agreed terms with his unbeaten Russian rival for a contest which will take place in Moscow's Olympic National Sports Complex.

Povetkin, like his opponent a former Olympic champion, is the mandatory challenger for Klitschko's WBA Super belt.

And the champion said: "I'm really pleased the fight has been set. Boxing fans around the world await the meeting of two Olympians.

"This fight will be the best in the heavyweight division and I'm impressed by the fact it will be held in Moscow, because many Russian and Ukrainian fans have the chance to attend."

Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente said: "Despite long and arduous negotiations, both sides had the desire and willingness to reach an agreement.
