Olympic champion Nicola Adams marked her return to competition with a unanimous points win over Italy's Terry Gordini in the European Union Championships in Keszthely, Hungary.

Adams was rarely troubled as she eased into the last eight in her first bout since her historic gold medal win over China's Ren Cancan in London last summer.

Liverpool lightweight Natasha Jonas was also victorious with a unanimous victory over Ester Konecna of the Czech Republic.

Irish pair Lynne McEnery and Ceire Smith both bowed out, with McEnery outpointed by Turkey's Meltem Akar and flyweight Smith dropping a split decision to Sandra Drabik of Poland.
