Gennady Golovkin: One of the most feared fighters on the planet
Eddie Hearn believes Carl Froch and Gennady Golovkin is a fight that could be made for next year.
Golovkin proved once again what a devastating puncher he is by destroying Matthew Macklin inside three rounds in Connecticut on Saturday night.
The Kazakh has now stopped 24 of his 27 opponents and has held the WBA middleweight title for almost three years, but has been avoided by the bigger names in the sport.
As such, he could be tempted into moving up a division to take on Froch, who has never backed down from a confrontation.
And promoter Hearn is clearly itching to put the pair together in the ring.
"Golovkin is one of most widely avoided fighters on the planet and fair play to Macklin for stepping up, but Golovkin is a freak of nature. He's a beast," he told Sky Sports.
"According to HBO he'd be willing to step up to super-middleweight and a fight with Carl Froch would just be epic.
"Froch, granite chin, Golovkin one of the biggest pound-for-pound punchers in the world.
"Carl Froch will fight any man. Whilst Golovkin is largely avoided Froch will quite willingly step up and ideally that is a fight that could happen in the middle of 2014."
Froch is due to fight again in late November or early December with a third fight against Mikkel Kessler under consideration, while WBC champion Sakio Bika and former British champion George Groves are also possible opponents.
