Floyd Mayweather Jr: A better camp should see him in a good light
Floyd Mayweather Jr believes he is in better shape for Saturday's fight against Robert Guerrero than he was a year ago.
Mayweather has not fought for exactly 12 months, when he defeated Miguel Cotto on points in a performance that didn't rank amongst his best.
However, some small changes to his training regime and the return of father Floyd Sr to the camp could see Mayweather back to his best.
Mayweather promises excitement
"There are certain things my dad makes me see," he said.
"I just don't want to make the same mistakes we made in the Cotto fight. I probably over-trained for the Cotto fight whereas this fight I made sure I got more rest.
"My Dad said when you rest you come back in the gym looking better, and he was right.
"It's not really an age thing. If you're competing at the highest level your body needs to rest.
"Even so, I shouldn't have been making the mistakes I was making, I'm a better fighter than that. I wasn't the best Floyd Mayweather but I got the job done.
"Camp is a lot longer now because I'm taking more time off (between fights). This camp has been tremendous, I feel good and I'm going to go out there and perform.
"My body looks a lot better than it's ever looked and this is what I do. I'm ready to fight."
