John Simpson will face Choi Tseveenpurev on the Ricky Burns show in Glasgow

Matchroom have confirmed that John Simpson will face Choi Tseveenpurev will clash at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on May 11.

The fight will provide support to Ricky Burns vs Jose Gonzalez with the vacant WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title on the line.

"This fight has war written all it and the response already has been incredible," said promoter Eddie Hearn. "Choi has a real cult following within the game and everyone knows how John Simpson likes to fight. Don't blink during this one!"

The former British and Commonwealth champion will be looking to write the final chapter in the career of 41-year-old Choi, who fights for the first time since losing to Daud Cino Yordan in an IBO title bout last November.

The UK-based Mongolian is well known to Sky Sports fans following his victory in Prizefighter 18 months ago, when he defeated Rhys Roberts in the final of the featherweights tournament.
