Leo Santa Cruz: Huge exposure in a 10-rounder at super-bantamweight
Leo Santa Cruz will return to action on the Floyd Mayweather v Robert Guerrero undercard, it has been confirmed.
The Mexican had a busy time in 2012, being one of the fighters of the year as he won the IBF bantamweight title before defending it on three occasions.
But after relinquishing that belt in order to move up a division, Santa Cruz will take on veteran Venezuelan Alexander Munoz in a 10-round contest at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Munoz is a two-time WBA super-flyweight champion but took a two-year sabbatical before winning on his comeback in December.
"I'm so excited to be fighting on such a big card as the big Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend," said the Mexican Santa Cruz.
"I have been very fortunate to have fought on great events so far in my career, but this is the biggest stage yet. I plan to make my fans happy on May 4 and show the world that I am here to stay."
Chief support on the show will be provided by Daniel Ponce De Leon's WBC featherweight title defence against the unbeaten Abner Mares, while middleweight prospect J'Leon Love (15-0) gets a chance to shine against fringe contender Gabriel Rosado.
