Derry Mathews' promoter Dave Coldwell believes his fighter will come out victorious once more against Anthony Crolla in Liverpool.

Mathews took Crolla's British title in a thrilling clash a year ago and Saturday's re-match is a classic in the making.

Coldwell, who has once again worked with Eddie Hearn to make the fight, is confident Mathews can confirm his superiority over his old rival.

"I think he's got very under-rated boxing skills, because whenever you see him in action you see blood, you see war."

"You're guaranteed fireworks, it's going to be a cracking fight," he told Sky Sports.

"This is a big fight in both kids' careers. Joe (Gallagher) and Anthony have both said there'll be no excuses.

"But I think Derry's too good. I think he's got very under-rated boxing skills, because whenever you see him in action you see blood, you see war.

"But he can box, I think that is under-estimated and his jab is going to be key in this fight. His uppercuts will be key and his brain will as well. If he keeps his cool he beats Anthony in every department.

"Anthony's a very good fighter, but I think Derry's got the edge in every department."

Both fighters comfortably made the lightweight limit of 9st 9lb ahead of the vacant Commonwealth title clash at Friday's weigh-in.

Watch Mathews v Crolla live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 9pm on Saturday night, plus two hours of live action on the red button from 7pm.
