Billy Joe Saunders retained his British and Commonwealth middleweight titles with a wide points win over brave challenger Matthew Hall.
Saunders appeared to hurt Hall on a number of occasions as the pair stood and traded, but the champion also exhibited his flashy ring skills and took the verdict with scores of 119-110, 120-108 and 120-109.
The Mancunian bobbed his head as he marched forward in the opener but Saunders quickly found his range, catching his foe with swift combinations.
Hall landed a crisp right hook in the second which sparked a spiteful response from Saunders and a left hand visibly dipped his opponent's legs.
There was more punishment for Hall in the third when he was stopped in his tracks by a body shot, while a crisp uppercut from Saunders stiffened his legs again in the fourth.
Hall had made the step up from light-middleweight and did not appear to have enough firepower to worry Saunders, but he still marched forward bravely, exchanging big body shots.
Saunders stuck out his stiff jab as he boxed on the back foot for a few rounds, although the fight burst into life again in the 10th when body shots unravelled Hall's defences and he withstood a brutal barrage before the bell.
This sustained attack appeared to sap Saunders, who could not follow it up in the 11th, but a right hand from Hall prompted a final round flurry from the champion as he put the seal on a one-sided win.
