Ashley Sexton failed in his bid to land the European bantamweight title after he was stopped in eight rounds by Stephane Jamoye.

Very much the underdog, the 25-year-old admitted he had nothing to lose going into the champion's backyard in Herstal, Belgium.

The Brit started well in the close early rounds but things began to unravel in the sixth when he was deducted a point for holding.

He was then dropped by a body shot in the seventh before Jamoye forced the stoppage a round later as Sexton (14-2-2) twice hit the canvas as he suffered only his second loss in the paid ranks.
