Kevin Mitchell: Beaten by Ricky Burns last year
Kevin Mitchell appears to be on the right track after re-uniting with former trainer Paul Cook.
Mitchell, idle since losing to Ricky Burns in September, subsequently split from Jimmy and Mark Tibbs and a spell with former pro Gary Logan ended quickly.
But the 'Hammer' has told Boxing News he is hoping for a busy year after getting back with Cook.
"I left Mark and Jimmy because I needed a change of scenery," he said. "I went to see Adam Booth and he gave me great advice about my career, but he's a busy man.
"So I started with Gary Logan but the travelling up to the city and back was draining me.
"I was going to go back with Paul originally...but I was reluctant because of old family problems. But he and my Mum split up years ago and he said he'd love to train me again."
Mitchell has had his battles outside the ring and he lost his first world title shot and unbeaten record to Michael Katsidis in 2010 during a period when he was battling a drink problem.
However, the 28-year-old is confident he can focus all of his energies towards his boxing career.
"I'd like to be out four or five times this year and sparring regularly in the build-up to those fights," he added. "He (Cook) gets me very fit and he'll have me going away to training camps, away from everything."
