Shane Mosley will put retirement to one side for a shot at WBA welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi on April 27.

'Suger' Shane officially quit the ring last summer but has kept in shape training his son Shane Jr and feels he still has something to offer fight fans.

Mosley, now 41, is winless in four fights since beating Antonio Margarito in 2009, suffering landslide defeats to Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Saul Alvarez.

But the three-weight world champion claims leg injuries scuppered his chances in those fights and is looking to add another belt to an already impressive list.

"Fighting Paulie is a great opportunity," he told ESPN. "Paulie is a mover, but he's durable. A lot of people underestimate him and then they lose. But I can't afford to underestimate him."

Mosley (46-8-1) will reportedly fight for his smallest purse since 1998 and says his only motivation is to win the title again.

"I love the sport, I want to be in there. This is a fight to give me a world title that I want and after winning it, I will fight all comers."

Although the clash has not yet been finalised, it is one that Malignaggi is known to want and he is likely to go in as favourite in front of his home crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
