Dereck Chisora: Set comeback pending the return of his licence

Dereck Chisora is hoping to have his licence reinstated in time to fight on the big Wembley Arena show on March 16.

Chisora was last seen getting knocked out by David Haye last year in a fight sanctioned by the Luxembourg board.

Promoter Frank Warren made the bold move after the Londoner was banned indefinitely by the British Boxing Board of Control following his unseemly scrap with Haye at a Munich press conference following defeat to Vitali Klitschko.

"It's back to the drawing board, he's reapplied for his licence and subject to that he'll be involved in an international 10-round fight against someone to be named," said Warren.

"It's a year on, he's been a good lad and hopefully all that's behind us. I would prefer an American, there's a couple of guys there but he needs to get the 'W'."

On a cracking show that features Ricky Burns vz Miguel Vazquez, Nathan Cleverly makes a mandatory defence of his WBO light-heavyweight title against Robin Krasniqi while George Groves fights Mohamed Ali Ndiaye for the European super-middleweight strap.

"Nathan can't afford to slip up and he's got to look good doing what I know he can do," added Warren. "Then we'll get him in a really big fight in the next quarter.

"George finished 2012 on a high note with a mature performance and now he's onto the next level.

"He's improving with every fight and can hopefully go on to fight for a world title later this year."

Liam Walsh, who was Burns' original opponent in December, will defend his Commonwealth super-featherweight title against Canadian Logan McGuinness after recovering from injuries sustained in a car crash.
