Olympic silver medallist Fred Evans maintained his unbeaten record in the World Series of Boxing as the GB Lionhearts ran out 4-1 winners over the German Eagles at Earls Court on Saturday night.

Evans beat Vjaceslav Kerber on points despite struggling early on, gradually warming to his task and finishing strongly to round off the night.

Earlier, Sam Maxwell was the only GB loser as he dropped a close points verdict to Ireland's David Oliver Joyce in the night's opening match.

However, Ireland's European light-heavyweight champion Joe Ward floored Satula Abdulai to claim a technical knockout after Abdulai retired injured.

Further wins for Olympian Andrew Selby against French pro boxer Redouane Asloum and London heavyweight Joe Joyce over Philipp Gruner gave the hosts the upper hand.

GB have now won two of their opening three matches in the competition and next face Ukraine in January.
