Ricky Burns will miss out on defending his WBO lightweight title this weekend after the promoter failed to find a late replacement for him.
Burns had been due to take on Jose Ocampo at London's Excel Arena only for the challenger to pull out following the recent death of his trainer.
It is understood that British lightweight champion Derry Matthews was a possible stand-in for southpaw Ocampo.
However, Burns will not be on Saturday's card and promoter Alex Morrison told STV: "Ricky will not fight this weekend.
"We couldn't find an opponent for him to fight. He was offered a 10-round fight but decided not to take it.
"We're now looking at January 26 for the next title defence and hopefully that will take place in Glasgow.
"Ricky has taken a week off and then he will return to training.
"He's philosophical about it, it's just a sequence of events and these things happen."
The Scot had earlier been due to face Liam Walsh who also withdrew after the Norfolk fighter was hurt in a car crash.
