Andre Ward will defend his WBC and WBA super-middleweight titles against Kelly Pavlik in Los Angeles on January 26.
The 28-year-old American defeated Britain's Carl Froch in Atlantic City in December last year and is rated among the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Ward will be putting his 26-fight unbeaten record on the line against compatriot Pavlik at the Galen Center.
It will be his sixth defence of the title after he stopped Chad Dawson in September.
Pavlik, who has won 40 of his 42 bouts, has revitalised his career with four successive victories since losing the WBC and WBO middleweight titles to Sergio Martinez in April 2010.
Froch has already stated he would like a rematch with Ward next summer.
