Sergio Martinez will fight in his native Argentina for the first time in more than a decade when he returns to the ring on April 27.
The date has been set aside for the WBC middleweight champion and pound-for-pound contender with venues being considered that could hold as many as 50,000.
'Maravilla' was based in Europe for several years before heading to the States where he has belatedly made his name in recent times.
Two opponents are reportedly under consideration with St Helens' Martin Murray likely to be in the mix should he win the interim WBA belt in Manchester later this month.
Martinez is set to undergo surgery on a knee injury he sustained when he was knocked down in the 12th round of his otherwise one-sided victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr in September.
However, a full recovery is anticipated and he should be back in full training by the New Year.
A rematch with 'Junior' could take place later next year although Chavez would have to impress on his own comeback - also set for April 2013 - with former Martinez victim Matthew Macklin a possible opponent.
