Scotty Cardle will face Joe Elfidh in his first eight-rounder on the Carl Froch undercard in Nottingham on November 17.
It will be Cardle's biggest test to date after winning his first seven fights since turning pro earlier this year.
Elfidh returned to the sport this year following a hiatus, losing a six-round contest to former world champion Scott Harrison last time.
"I am learning every time I fight," said light-welterweight Cardle. "I went the distance in Sheffield and I think I needed those full six rounds just to test my fitness.
"When I am facing six rounds I train for eight and now I am fighting eight rounds I am training for ten.
"I watched Joe's previous fight against Scott Harrison, which he lost, and I watched his fight against an old friend of mine, Joe Hughes, which he won. He can be a bit wild, which I need to watch out for."
Promoter Eddie Hearn added: "This is Scott's first real test. I know he will be looking to bounce back in his hometown so Scotty needs to be switched on for the challenge.
"Scotty must be the busiest fighter in the UK this year and we plan one more trip out on our Xmas cracker show on December 8."
Carl Froch headlines the 'True Brit' bill when he takes on Yusuf Mack in the first defence of his IBF super-middleweight title.
