Stephen Jennings: Faces Anthony Crolla in the first round on Saturday night

Sky Bet

Stephen Jennings will be looking to upset the odds when he takes on Anthony Crolla in Prizefighter on Saturday night.

Jennings will have a home crowd behind him at the Liverpool Olympia but he faces an uphill task against a man looking to bounce back from losing his British title.

But the 28-year-old believes the three-round format will suit him as he steps between the ropes for the first time since last summer.

"Maybe the other guys will be slow to adapt having been fighting over longer distances so I'm going to start fast and hopefully get a result," he told Sky Sports.

"To be honest I've had a bit of bad luck, having three fights called off, so it's been a bit of a nightmare really.

"But I've been ticking over in the gym hoping something would come up, and as soon as the offer of Prizefighter came up I bit their hand off, especially when I heard the line-up, what a privilege to be in it.

"There's not much pressure on me, especially fighting Anthony in the first round. He's there or thereabouts for a British or European title but I'm here to upset the odds and I've nothing to lose and everything to gain come Saturday night.

"I've fought in front of big crowds, I fought Derry Mathews last year so I'm used to the crowd but I'll just concentrate on what I'm being told in the corner and what I've got to do."
