Kenny Anderson: Gets a shot at the vacant strap
Kenny Anderson will face veteran Robin Reid for the British super-middleweight title at Sheffield's Motorpoint Arena on October 20.
The fight for the vacant strap will take place on the undercard of Kell Brook IBF eliminator against Hector Saldivia.
Proposed fights against George Groves have fallen through for Anderson but he finally gets the chance to bid for the belt with the British board declaring Groves' title vacant.
For Reid it is a second shot at the title five years after challenging Carl Froch for the belt in Nottingham in November 2007.
"I'm delighted that Kenny has been given this opportunity," said promoter Eddie Hearn. "It's been a frustrating period waiting for the Groves fight but Kenny has remained focused and is ready to challenge for the title on October 20.
"People may write Robin off but he is coming off two impressive wins and is bang up for this."
The undercard also feature's Jamie McDonnell against Vusi Malinga in an IBF bantamweight world title final eliminator.
