Anthony Crolla: Could get chance to avenge Mathews defeat
Former British champion Anthony Crolla will complete the line-up for the next Prizefighter event in Liverpool on October 6.
It means the Manchester lightweight could get an immediate chance to avenge his defeat to Derry Mathews earlier in the year with the Welshman already confirmed in the eight-man, one night show.
'Million Dollar's career came to a screeching halt in April when big underdog Mathews scored a sixth-round stoppage victory.
Mathews has since been stopped by European champion Gavin Rees but with Rees set to vacate the British strap, both Crolla and Mathews have a route back to title contention.
In potentially one of the best Prizefighter tournaments, another former British champion Gary Sykes will be joined by Stephen Jennings and Terry Needham plus promising youngsters Nathan Brough, Kieran Farrell and Liam Patrick Walsh.
"Prizefighter is back with a bang with our strongest line-up ever," said promoter Eddie Hearn. "I never expected a dream line-up like this and Anthony's inclusion is the icing on the cake.
"Ideally we would've loved to have this in a 5,000-seater arena but the fans will experience an atmosphere like never before in the Liverpool Olympia and this is a must see night of boxing on Sky Sports on October 6."
On a bumper night of boxing on Merseyside, Rocky Fielding will challenge Wayne Reed for the Central Area super middleweight title.
Fielding fights for his first title at the venue of his record breaking Prizefighter triumph in March 2011 when he became the Super Middleweight II champion and the first man to win Prizefighter with three KO wins.
