Champion under no illusions on the eve of Froch clash

Trainer Stephane Larouche said Lucian Bute had trained for a 'war' in preparation for Carl Froch on Saturday night. Bute will put his IBF super-middleweight title on the line against the Briton, a two-time WBC champion at 168lbs, in Nottingham. The naturalised Canadian will enter the ring undefeated but most would agree he has not fought at the same level as Froch, who lost to Andre Ward in the final of the World Super Six Series in December. And the Bute camp is aware that the reigning champion is facing the fight of his life in Froch's own backyard. "We had a great camp, great sparring, we had seven guys for a total of 120 rounds," said Bute's trainer Larouche.

Warrior

"It's not easy to get ready for Carl Froch. You need to get ready for a war - 12 rounds, 36 minutes, war. "Carl Froch is a true warrior, he's been there, he's shown us he's got balls, a will to win, heavy hands, and he's got a good organisation behind him. "So this is a battle that Lucian is ready for. He's been working hard and happy to be here. it's going to be a great evening, great for boxing." Bute admitted it would not be easy to break down Froch, but was confident he would retain the title he first won in 2007. "I'm comfortable, very excited to be here," said the Romanian-born Bute. "After the last press conference, I left for a seven week camp...a good training camp. "I'm very happy, I worked very hard for this fight, I know this is not an easy fight for me, but I came here to win. I'm a winner."
