Cobra's IBF title bid part of a massive month of live boxing

Carl Froch's Super Middleweight showdown with Lucian Bute is to be shown live on Sky Sports next month. The Cobra will return to the ring for the first time since losing his WBC title to Andre Ward in December when he contends for the IBF equivalent on Saturday May 26. The eagerly-anticipated clash with reigning champion Bute takes place at Nottingham's Capital FM Arena and Froch will be looking to put on a show for his hometown fans. "It's nice to be back on UK soil and to be at Nottingham is the icing on the cake," Froch told Sky Sports News HD. "I know the noise that the crowd will make is going to be electric and that gives me that extra gear when I'm struggling in round 11 and round 12. "People want fights that get them on the edge of their seats and when I fight I'm looking for the finish, I'm looking for the stoppage. "And I think the fight against Lucian Bute, who boxes and moves and doesn't clench up close, has the makings of a real showdown and could be one of my best fights." The fight will be live on Sky Sports 1 HD from 10pm and forms part of a massive month of live boxing in May. On Saturday May 19, Sky Sports will be in Las Vegas to bring you Amir Khan's rematch with Lamont Peterson as the Bolton fighter tries to regain the WBA and IBF Light-Welterweight titles that he lost to the American last December. And on the same night we'll bring you the British and Commonwealth Heavyweight clash from Liverpool between rising star David Price and Sam Sexton. On Saturday May 5, fight fans can look forward to a cracking bill in Belfast with the latest in the Prizefighter series, plus Paul McCloskey's Light-Welterweight bout with DeMarcus Corley.
