Scorecard change and Buffer's gaffe add to Brit's frustration

Team Khan appear justified in questioning the circumstances surrounding the climax to his fight with Lamont Peterson owing to problems with the scorecards. A statement jointly issued by Team Khan and Golden Boy Promotions said they would be taking their grievances to the formal channels after Khan lost a split decision in Washington DC. The Briton was docked two points in the fight - causing confusion for one judge as well as the normally impeccable MC Michael Buffer. Not only did Buffer name it a 'majority decision' he also called the scorecard of Nelson Vasquez 114-111 instead of a more unanimous 115-111.

Rematch

And the lengthy delay in announcing the scores was almost certainly down to judge George Hill initially giving the seventh round - when Khan was docked his first point for pushing - 10-8 to Khan instead of Peterson. "I don't know why it took so long," Khan said. "If they thought he won fair and square then I don't know why it took so long from the judges to get the scorecards out there. But this is boxing, you live another day. I'm going to go to the gym, sit down with my team and see where we go from here. "The rematch is something I'm looking at and I want it straight away. I want it in my next fight and I want my two titles back. Peterson won the fight but I'm ready for the rematch anywhere. "I came to DC so now let's take the fight to the UK and see if he has got the same balls as me. "We all know who won the fight. I've even had a few of the commissioners coming up to me and saying that was a disgusting decision."
