Mike Perez has been crowned Prizefighter International Heavyweight king following a devastating display of power punching at Alexandra Palace.

The Irish-based Cuban extended his unbeaten record to 16 fights with victories over Kerston Maxwell, Gregory Tony and then Tye Fields to land the £32,000 prize.

The pocket-rocket southpaw took just 42 seconds to overcome American Fields in the final, unleashing a barrage of punches to leave the referee with no option but to stop the bout.

His semi-final win against former French heavyweight champion Tony did not last much longer, Perez taking just 54 seconds to seal his final place.

Speaking after his breakthrough win, Perez told Sky Sports HD1/1: "I got better (as the night went on). I will send the money to my mum in Cuba and then take my fiancé and young daughter out for dinner.

"Hopefully after this big win I will get a world title fight against David Haye or Wladimir Klitschko, whoever."

Fields also impressed en route to the final, overcoming UK Prizefighter champion Michael Sprott and German Konstantin Airich in contrasting fashion.

The 6ft 9in southpaw edged past Sprott on a split decision in the quarter finals before landing a shuddering body punch on Airich to win the last four bout in just 74 seconds.
